TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOP

The biotech tribe gathered up for a week's worth of workshop'n at MCC in what's fast becoming a popular tradition.  A Beginner session was held in the mornings and an advanced workshop took place in the afternoon.  Junior high and high school teachers traveled from the east side, west side and regions beyond to attend this event.

The Beginner Workshop contained a section on notebook keeping, as well as a series of DNA based lab activities including transformations, mini-prep, restriction digests and gel electrophoresis.

The afternoon workshop specialized in protein-based methodologies including SDS Page, Western Blotting, blood and saliva based ELISA and protein purification.

Blood is drawn in order to perform certain ELISA tests.
