This highly successful event was created and is maintained by the biotech club. Traditionally a student from the biotech club introduces the speaker. Take part in the history and network with successful people. Biotech club members should especially plan to attend the Don Nelson talk on October 14.

We hope to arrange 3 during the course of the semester. Field trips will always be on a Friday afternoon, from approximately 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Dates TBA.

Hope everyone had a good break and are ready to start the new semester.
Here is everything we covered:
Event: FYI day January 28th 10am – 2pm
The BioTechfriques will have a table and be telling students about the club. I encourage everyone to come by the table and get involved.
Banner & T- shirts
We are working on getting a Banner and T-shirts but first we need a logo. So all you artists out there should submit a logo. You never know your logo could be the one that represents the club for years to come. The next club meeting we will vote on are favorite design.
Sponsorships
We are looking for sponsors so if you have an idea of a sponsor let us know. Anthony Russell has taken the leadership role on this project and will be making a club brochure to give to potential sponsors.
Volunteer
We are looking for volunteer opportunities, so keep your eyes and ears open. We want to help the community anyway we can.

OCTOBER 17, 2008
Good Evening, BioTechfriques!
The club held its monthly meeting this past Friday, October 17th, 2008. In case you didn't make it, here are the salient details:
- We're moving the club member database to a new location! To do this, we need your cooperation. If you haven't already, log in to www.mccbiotechnology.net, and click "Join the BioTechfriques" on the right side of the main page. Populate some fields, and BINGO-BANGO, you're officially a member of the shiny new club member database! This will take you a few seconds only, and will allow you to register for club activities.
- 1st Annual Arizona Biotech Day is the next club field trip! This is coming up this week, on Thursday, October 23rd. If you are planning on going and haven't registered, you can do so now by logging in to www.mccbiotechnology.net. We'll be meeting at the usual spot (parking circle outside Campus Safety) at 1:15pm, to depart at 1:30pm. We plan to return to MCC campus by about 4:30pm. AZ Biotech Day is presented by ThirdBiotechInNexus Biotechnology, Inc., among others. From Jeff Morhet, CEO of InNexus, "Whether you're from industry, academia, or just interested, you have a personal invitation to join the greater team of Arizonans working in life sciences and thinking innovatively toward the building of our economy. See you there!". and sponsored by
- Fall Bash is tomorrow, Monday, October 20th! The event runs from 10am-2pm and is located in the central mall of the Southern & Dobson campus. There will be food, games, and merriment galore! We've always had a great time at these events in the past, so come out and show your BioTechfrique'n spirit!
- The club has found a community service opportunity! We'll be lending our collective help to the Physical Sciences Outreach program for their upcoming Science Day and/or Astronomy Night, on November 5th & 7th, respectively. The Science Day is an all day deal, while Astronomy Night is a shorter evening event. Our people will be talking with their people this week, and we'll have more details for you shortly. In the meantime, email me with any specific questions!
- The Life Science Alumni Speaker Series continues! Thanks to Szabi Szelinger, who spoke to a full room two weeks ago. November's Speaker Series brings Brian Banks, a former major league baseball player and student of MCC. Come listen to Brian share his experiences on Wednesday, November 12th, from 4:00-5:00pm in LS101.
- Help us put a smile on a BioTechfrique's face! We have a fellow member who has fallen ill, and we're going to bring her a lil' cheer! We'll be picking up a card for the club to sign, and we are also accepting contributions for a care package. We take care of our own! Email me if you'd like to contribute, and details on card-signing times will be coming soon.
- Get to know your fellow 'friques! We're having an informal off-campus social event next weekend, on Saturday, October 25th. This is an opportunity to just cut loose and shoot the breeze with the truly fantastic people (such as yourself) that make this club hip to be square! Details on location, times, etc. will arrive in your inbox tomorrow!
That's it for the major points of the meeting. There was also a lot of laughter, frolicking, and thumb wars, but those are self-explanatory. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or anything else to share, don't hesitate to email me! I do love to hear from you.
See you soon! In the meantime, CONNECT, CONTRIBUTE, GET INVOLVED!
Best Regards, Ryan Mac Pres, MCC BioTechfriques
